Menzi Maseko's Song-Poetry

ReWrite The Future

Verse1: The sky's no limit
We master P's and Q's / Since time's infinite
On our footsteps in the sand we leave clues
For the generations to sight
The stars are us so we own the night
We could lament of fight / or we could write
Blues trilogies on the black-body's struggles and plight
Or we could write
speculative - prophetic innervisions some words that might
Trigger our people to see with new eyes
Walk through this darkness as beams of light ...
Instead of seeing through a glass darkly
Living starkly
We turn our pain to alchemy
Using Sun waves to heat these grains of sand ...
So now we own
The product and the factory
The whole universe ...young one is your intellectual property
There's no more copyright, so copy left
You need no one's permission when flight is your destiny
All these smoke-screen reality
The holographic matrixes
Are just the remnants of slavery
Someone else's history -
We honour our ancestry
Yet we dare to create futures that ensure peace and justice
Are enjoyed by majorities
We speak no more of war or suppressed minorities
Subjectivity transformed to agency
The long awated transmutation of IKS to Life ...
